Job Title :Jr. Engineer – Civil to Asst. General Manager Civil
LOCATION - SHONGTONG KARCHHAM HYDRO ELECTRIC PROJECT - 450 MW, KINNAUR, HIMACHAL PRADESH
Position Description Summary :
Responsible for carrying-out assigned construction activities, meeting : Output, time and material reconciliation parameters.
Responsible for providing technical inputs and executing work of drilling, excavation, rock-bolting, shot-creting, concreting through small teams comprising Engineer,Foreman, Supervision and PRW.
Key Result Areas:
Meet or exceed the following performance targets :
• Daily production targets.
• Design specification as per construction methodology
• Timelines as per construction plan
• Material consumption as per material reconciliation parameters.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Work Planning & Organising :
To receive work plan from Shift Engineer. To study connected construction drawings, discuss with Engineer,Foremen, Supervisors & PRW’s and set out methodology of execution.
To check, that resource is required for work execution are in place.
To assist Shift In Charge and facilitate uninterrupted work at site and arrange to rectify bottle necks by utilizing Foremen/Supervisors.
2. Execution & Supervision :
a. Quality Checks :
Get surveyor to carry-out survey and fix markings. Carry-out sample jobs. Invite client’s QC Engineer to carry-out quality checks as per checklist. Obtain approval of QC Engineer and carry forward production volume. To closely supervise each stage of work and ensure progress in meeting shift target.
b. Work Measurement :
To measure work done, record measurements and sign documents jointly with client’s engineer. To seek Shift Engineers intervention incase of disagreement. Handover measurement reports to Shift Engineer.
c. Downtime/ Slow down :
To immediately act incase of work stoppage due to breakdown of equipment or workmen taking unscheduled breaks. To obtain replacement of equipments or immediate commencement of repairs or get workmen back on the job, to minimize downtime. To seek superiors assistance if required to strictly follow the cycle time for work as per schedule.
3. Cost Management – Material Consumption.:
To monitor work methods carried-out by PRW. To correct defective methods that may lead to rework or excess consumption of materials. To demonstrate correct work techniques either directly or through foremen.
4. Work discipline :
To confront any act of commission or omission that may adversely effect production or disturb working conditions. To council, admonish, threaten offending workmen. To escalate to shift engineer for taking disciplinary action, as required.
To set standards of discipline through personal example.
5. Production Reports.:
To record shift production in formatted reports alongwith reasons for not achieving targets.
6. Safety :
To strictly enforce use of safety gear and adoption of safe work practices in
day to day activities. To make no exceptions.
7. Escalations to Superiors:
To escalate to Superior without any delay, problems related to men, materials or equipment which are beyond the Engineers control, so that timely action can be taken.
8. House Keeping :
To carry-out house keeping activity periodically. To ensure adit road is
accessible and free of dumps To put PRW men on job to fill potholes and
carryout repairs as required. To ensure the environmental aspects of road
and dumping yard is as per norms.
